Funny story, me and a group of guys had the idea of "Vine" before it actually came out.
I forgot the name we had for it, it was called something else obviously. It was some catchy one syllable word that you can add a "ing" on the end to make it the act of doing it.

It was 10 second videos thoguh and not 6 seconds like Vine uses. But at the time I was like.. how in hell well restricting a video to 10 seconds make people actually want to use this ? Well here we are with Vine lol.
Plus we had no idea how to really monetize it anyways, assuming we actually made it to begin with.

That guy charging $1,000 per 100k subscribers is not bad at all.
has has 1.9 mil subs. So.. $19k for a 6 second video wtf? lol.
He seems to be doing really well from Vine lol.
hand drawn frame by frame animations are not even nearly this much.

I'm reading articles about people having various ps4 issues. But one in particular is the "BLOD" (Blue line of death) as people call it.

I don't have a ps4 yet, but I was planning on getting one eventually when problems like these are all ironed out. I have learned from the xbox360 rrod issues.

some people claim disgruntled foxconn factory workers sabotaged it, some claim it is Microsoft employees breaking it and making videos showing it not working, same claim it is a resolution issue and people are not reading the manual.

apparently over 1 million shipped,
and this effect less than 0.4 percent of them based on he IGN link.

As I looked at the latest simgirls trailer, I began to think about other games that are pushing the bar forward in date sim type game genre.

They have a custom character creator for the main character. Gender, Sex, race, various hair styles and colors etc. the works.
My game has the player playing as Maiko. Aching dreams 3 I'm not sure if the main character is custom of not, or if it is just "you".

I wonder what is really preferred when talking "rpg" having a defined character, or a custom one. or a mix of both. And how much it actually limits the story or benefits it.

like in kotor you make a custom character, but it limited dialogue and the potential of roleplay. No one called your character by name and most stuff was not personal. romance options where the same no matter the gender.

It was done a lot better in dragon age with the morrigan relationship path.

I actually like the Shepard and Hawke thoguh. they are a mix of customization options and a defined character. I think playing as the inquisitor in dragon age 3 will also be a good experience.

And in games like Kingdom hearts and final fantasy you plays as defined characters.
(UMCC takes this final fantasy/ kingdom hearts route, where you plays as a defined character, Maiko. )

all of these games I mentioned have done really well and are popular, so there is no one right way to do it.

But now back to totally custom characters and partial custom characters.
Is having romance options for any character the same really a "feature"? or is it just lazy?

Making the romance characters react the same regardless of the main character's gender seems like something that displays a lack of effort as opposed to some great feature. So every character is just bisexual? really? lol. I'm not saying it is impossible, but it seems like just a way to be politically correct in this day and age.

At the very least a character can be more resistant and harder to "get" if he/she is not gay. Or treat your character different if you are male/female. You can still get anyone you want but it is harder or easier based on your character options.

why bother having gender selectable customizations if it doesn't matter because everyone is bisexual?
I assume It is mainly reduced to just appeasing a larger audience.
In dragon age 2 it only effects the first part of the game by deciding what sibling dies.
as for the rest of the game, nothing comes to mind where gender actually mattered.
people might relater to a gender selected character more even thoguh it doesn't effect any events leading up to the end of the story.

In masseffect is matters. You get ashley or kaiden. then liara was the bisexual character.
To me it gives the characters more character to have sexual preferences.

In dragon age 2 it was annoying as hell having everyone bisexual. You give a simple compliment to male character right after some large boss battle, and he is suddenly trying to pull your dick out of your pants and suck on it.
Cardboard cut out characters that have a linear personality in a game that is supposed to be customizable.

/rant

anyways. It will be interesting to see how games such as the simgirls game and even main stream games make full use of having a customized main character.

feel free to post thoughts.
