  1. There’s a lot of reasons why many people like UMCH, probably because of how huge the game is. Personally, I do like these huge games where you get invested in the story, the characters, and atmosphere in general. That’s what makes games fun. I do love the mini-games too, but I prefer the ‘bigger picture’ however. But anyways, since you have a plan for 2017, If you want to make new, smaller games, then I’ll support you the whole way. What I need to tell you is that what I’ve noticed from Patreon recently, it has become a HAVEN for supporting porn in general. From ‘marblesyrup’ to ‘knotgaming’, they all around have around 10k and the numbers keep rising. What’s ridiculous is ‘sakimichan’ income per month, she basically earns 60k in the span of ONE MONTH. She’s an artist and all she does is draw anime characters, but what she resorted recently is drawing ‘nudes’, thus her income. You’ll reach 10k maybe even more in no time since there is certainly a huge DEMAND. People are so desperate for it, that people have begun to try to learn Japanese since there’s so many Japanese adult titles games out there, thus, many patreon creators have began translating those desired Japanese games to the public. What I also noticed is the amount of RPG MAKER games there are by some patreon creators. There’s a bunch of them and it’s extremely popular. What’s irritating is that they keep delaying the release date over and over, but they still get paid for it. There’s too many of them and people are getting tired of them simply because of the delayed release dates. It’s probably because of what happened to Breeding Season that made the people so suspicious. What’s surprising is that there isn’t a larger market for English Sex games and animation. Japan basically has the market cornered which isn’t surprising since they are the largest porn supplier in the world. If Microsoft or Sony had their hands on the sex game market (which would never happen) their titles would sell like hotcakes. Porn sells, end of discussion. I’m glad there’s many patreons backing you up and you’ve made this your full job. But, there will come a day when there is ‘oversaturation’, when things become too popular and you get start getting hated for it like ‘sakimichan’ for example. I hope you get over your cold however, you can’t start 2017 like that, rest Vortex!

What’s ridiculous is that the team is already making 11k per month. I’ve never supported Breeding Season knowing that the project would come to fail. Knowing that they’ve created another project goes to show how desperate and gullible the ‘English’ speaking public is in making these games. If you want me to support your creation, you’ve got to earn my trust first and then I’ll decide whether or not I’ll support you. Like, Vortex. And, I definitely agree with you Nico, the ‘desperate’ need for these adult games is rather largely growing in demand.

    I believe the reason UMCH has the highest demand is due to the very nature of the setting, it gives a very happy go lucky vibe and sex is treated as something very casual in UMCH, despite your efforts on solidifying the narrative, as of right now it is very easy to imagine almost any character doing any pose and in any pairing without much build up. your expansions such as “savor the moment” add depth to the characters which is very welcome but they don’t really make me think any kind of intercourse is too kinky for any given character. plus ttrop character design is just so much more erotic than pinoytoons. don’t get me wrong, ARIA’s animations are still great but trop style is just more erotic and alluring at first glance, while ARIA’s animations are hot, one can already get turn on just by looking at UMCH sprites. likewise with ARIO, it is by far the most solid “game” you have released so far and the character design received some much needed upgrade, however the faces look just too “moe” which can be a turnoff for lots of people. but since you are going to focus on “new” games this will hopefully no longer be a problem.

    The idea of publishing upgraded games is very interesting but you might encounter some serious drawbacks on wanting to add brand new content, japanese companies can be a real bitch with letting licensors work over existing art and assets, something like adding a brand new CG or animation based on already established character design might require some degree of bureaucracy.

    1. Thanks, the games I am planing to work with are royalty free non-japanese games, and character designed are my own so it should be a problem. Just think it would be better to not start from literally nothing as I normally do.

      Yeah I wanted to take a shot at redoing aria characters again.

      As for UMCH characters I’d think the narrative is ok but I can’t force people to really pay attention to the nuances of it. all the paring are definitely thought about in great detail before a scene made of them despite how casual it may seem overall.

    Also I really enjoy the VN (The Rookie) you made and am hoping to see more like it ^o^

    1. Many thanks, I am working on the rookie script so I can finish that game. I’ll have a most detailed post on patreon changes as it becomes more likely for me to change it. Which for sure would be after UMCH so nothing to worry about atm.

  4. Not overly excited about the Patreon changes or the move to smaller games, at the same time I understand your reasoning and hope it works out well for you. I will have to see if the jump from 60$ to 120$ a year for early beta access is worth it once your smaller projects come out. Nevertheless I will at least continue to Support you till UMCH wraps up.

Thanks, yea I don’t expect everyone to like because it is a change, but I think it will be good for everyone nevertheless. and I like I mentioned just liking one game is likely not ideal anyway. Just keep in mind that smaller games doesn’t necessarily always mean small. it just means I don’t want to spend 5 years making each game, it is too long. Smaller, means smaller than 5 years varying from game to game, could be 1 year, could be a month, could be 4 months, could be a week, etc. All will still have familiar characters and story as in the long games. I actually think you get more content in that way I want to try because atm you might not even like whatever the one game is I’m spending 5 years or so on, and/or don’t like content I decided to update for that month, or whatever you would like to see doesn’t work well to put in that game. I will have a post about it more detail later.
