Patreon poll results from the topic below. I made a maiko video explaining it also.
This post will cover the results of the Thoughts and Analysis post covering Artificial Generated Content. As well as give example results of testing. And it also includes a new poll to decide what examples you all like (or don’t).
This post is based on the results captured at 122 votes (while writing this, it got to 137). I will address the extreme ends of the previous poll first. The “looking forward to it”, and the “no way” votes. Everyone that voted in either of these choices, i checked those patrons in more detail.
starting with the 18 “no way” votes. First of all, as of the time of the current capture, I’m happy to see literally no one voted “no way” without even watching the video or reading the post.
Secondly, and unfortunately, 2 people decided to leave just based on me discussing the topic alone, only leaving 16 “no way” votes to consider.
While I get that AI is a sensitive topic for some, when you vote and leave immediately after, it means I can’t factor in metrics like lifetime support, etc. because I can no longer easily see your data.
I say this with respect: if a topic is that sensitive that I can’t even ask a question about it without someone walking out, that makes it very hard to be transparent.
When I present topics for discussion, please don’t take that, or the way a poll is currently going, as a sign that I’ve already made up my mind—most of the time, I’m trying to understand the landscape and see what you all think before moving forward. Comments almost always outweigh poll results because it gives better insight into the roots of any concerns.
So out of those 16 that are left, I have to address the 8 that have never actually supported the patreon at all…
While I do appreciate the feedback, it’s hopefully understandable that I would prioritize the input of people who are actively supporting the patreon right now, or have supported previously. Hopefully I can gain your support sometime in the future.
For the remaining patrons that voted no way, I plan to take into serious consideration. But I ask that you please try to give these examples a fair shake, a lot of this stuff is new to me. If you vote no for everything, especially without leaving a comment, I’ll assume you just don’t like AI for the safe of it, and while understandable, I worry that using no Ai ever will increasingly handicap me as more and more people start to use Ai tools. Hopefully some of the options will at least seem reasonable.
Now for the “Looking forward to it” votes. Yes you were looked up also because I don’t want a false sense of patron support and it turns out all of those votes are from people who never supported the patreon at all. And as it turns out, 7 people who voted for this option have never supported the patreon before. Again, the feedback is welcome, however the consideration is to a lesser degree, hopefully you are future patrons. And I must say that the long term support from some patrons at this range is amazing.
And finally, I want to talk about the middle ground. This covers neutral, it’s fine, and for me to do what I think works best.
The latter two, leaves me with some room for experimentation. I can’t promise everything will “work”. But I can at least see what does and what doesn’t.
Neutral assumes you have some reservations. Some of this can stem from current use of AI you see as low effort “slop” flooding websites, jobs lost to ai, or a myriad of other uses of ai that didn’t seem to have a positive effect where it was used.
These middle ground votes actually make up over 60% of all votes. That tells me most of you aren’t here to micromanage or pre-maturely judge either way. You’re willing to reason with it’s use considering the changing times.
In the next post, I will show various examples of what I’ve managed to do so far.
