test the game here:
http://spiralvortexplay.com/games/minigametest2.html
testing a new h-minigame I and considering using that does not involve guessing something.
these were my initial requirements:
- removes all the guessing stuff from previous games
- doesn’t require much, if any explanation to learn how to play
- only requires one hand to play
- possible to loop animations
- does not use keyboard controls
- scalable in difficulty based on stats
after getting feedback on the last post I believe I have tackled the major concerns the fell into either of these two issues.
- constantly having to look away from the animation
- limited time to view the animation
I also wanted to try to minimize the space the UI takes up.
please post thoughts.
if you are having trouble playing just right click on the button when a heart is visible.
I am skipping the poll this time since written feedback is better for me to understand why you do or don’t like something.
keep in mind that I and only looking for feedback on the mechanics alone. the position of the, button, hearts, bar, all can be adjusted based on the animation playing. The difficulty of timing the click, how much increase you gain from clicking, or how much you lose from missing the click, etc all can be adjusted.
I love it! The concept is simple an easy to learn and master and the focus is based in the animation so it works really well together!
One small suggestion i could add is have hearts around the boobs area for boob lovers like me 😉
Thanks glad you like it. yaeh as mentioned in the post the heart could spawn from anywhere.
Not a fan, I hate this kind of mini-games and it frustrates me more than anything else, I can’t really picture myself playing that repeatedly in the final version.
Thanks for the feedback, you like the guessing minigame? or just no minigames?
I like the guessing game, you can take your time while with this one, if you miss a beat you’re it’s hard to get back in rhythm (if it makes sense ^^)
Nonetheless i really appreciate all the work you put into your games, and that you actually take the time to answer your community., it’s not the case with all the developers.
Keep up the good work !
Ok thanks, this one you can take your time also, but there is a very minor degree of skill needed. Yeah I try to get feedback as much as possible but I also have to consider several potential biases.
I prefer the other one. This one’s a little bit more difficult, and I don’t like that I basically have to look at the dude’s dick the whole time since that’s where the heart is.
Thanks for the feedback, the hearts could spawn from anywhere.
The guessing minigame was kinda funny cause the number was always about half the shown tip 😉
yeah I am aware it is not totally accurate heh. Taking another look at it to try it fix it is on my list of things to do, but not a high priority at the moment. I’ll try to fix before I finish UMCH for sure.
There’s nothing bad with this one. It’s alright I guess. It fulfills all the criteria you stated. But the guessing game is still more entertaining for me.
Thanks for the feedback
I’m fine with this variation too.
Can’t say that i like it more, but neither dislike, but at least is possible to play this without stop looking at the scene.
You should be more assertive Vortex, if you go too much on feedback you’ll end removing any kind of gameplay entirely. Cause lots of people don’t want to bother with it at all when playing this kind of game.
Don’t become the bitch of your patrons.
Thanks for the feedback. Simple gameplay is the idea here since the guessing stuff is actually quite complex. I know it may not seem that way but not every understands things equally. Not sure how asking for feedback has anything to do with patreon.
I prefer the guessing mini game over this one. It takes focus away from the animation.
Not sure what you mean, because you have to look right at the animation to see the hearts and the timing.
I meant to say the animation as a whole, the player focus on the loins of the characters. Plus, I don’t like Timing mechanics, I find them frustrating, seen as once you click at the wrong moment, you lose rhythm. The thing I enjoy about the guessing game is there is no rush to do things, if the player wants to see a slower or faster paced animation it’s up to them to decide.
Personally I think that the timing mechanic is a step down from the current mechanic in game.
i liked the guessing game more cause i found it more fun and less rushed
Thanks for the feedback. The guessing game went through the same process as this one is right now. where I got feedback and made it as best as possible based on that feedback.
Well seen that you only want feedback regarding the mechanic/concept, here goes :
I like, it´s simple and easy to understand, the two problems that i mentioned in the last test are gone, your attetion can be focused on the animation or the bar (depending what you want and not being forced by something else) and you aren´t pressed by time so you can do it on your own phase.
(Skip the next part if you want since it isn´t about the mechanic/concept, but of it´s settings.)
Now, feedback regarding stuff aside the mechanic :
– I like the fact that the bars aren´t big anymore, they consumed quite a big portion of the screen.
– The speed of the clicking at some point becomes really difficult, that makes winning the game quite hard. Some little adjusting to the speed and the difficulty will be good.
– The hearts should spawn from different places (You already commented regarding this subject, but i am commenting it just to back up the notion)
– I miss the comments/chat that the scene had, but the fact that they are gone it´s probably only due to this being just a test; but anyway, just mentioning it (and i don´t think they will draw attention from the scene because you are now able to take your time)
So there you go, keep up with the good work vortex. -w-
Thanks for the feedback. yeah there is no dialogue because I’m only testing game mechanics atm.
It may be a tiny bit harder than the previous attempt, and i hope the hearts will stay longer the more experience you have, but just focusing on the scene rather than a bar makes it way better. I approve.
Thanks for the feedback. if the hearts stay too much longer, and I mean by a few micro seconds on the faster animation for example, they would be up 100% of the time, possibly even overlapping.
I like this version better than the first one as it does take away from me looking at the bar as well having to get the get the same rhythm as the action. Although now, I’m looking at one spot now. I would ask if you could have players choosing this or the guessing minigame, but I’m sure that requires a lot of coding to be done. Also, I saw your reply from Questionnaire and was wondering if those random heart spawns would appear on her body, as that would actually have you look at the action in search of the hearts.
Thanks for the feedback, you can look anywhere you want because stopping has no penalty. But yes you have to look at the hearts when you want to actually progress through the game, in the same way you have to look at the number total, the previous total, and the bar on the guessing game. I didn’t want the hearts spawning all over the body because as it speeds up it I didn’t want people’s eyes jumping all over the screen if that makes sense.
I prefer the guessing mini game over this but that’s just my 2 cents… I’m not a huge fan of any tap click type mini game personally though. At the end of the day your’re never gonna make everyone happy with games there is rarely ever a happy median in any format. Either way keep up the amazing work looking forward to brand new content.
Thanks for the feedback. Yes I understand not everyone likes everything. This and the guessing game have different objectives they are trying to satisfy so I realized there is no longer a need to compare them. Plus this design is in a very early form, as opposed to the guessing game that has had several years of off and on tweaking.
More emphasis on the heart or some kinda hint before the game starts may help out for first time players. First time I started playing I didn’t see the heart right away and lost when trying to find the controls.
Yeah I might have a small message “right click on the button when a heart is visible” or something at the start.
You mean Left click.
oops yeah left click
Still prefer the guessing game. It was more fun because it felt like you were actually trying to get the person off instead of just playing some arbitrary mini-game. This game and the previous one also have the problem of how the game demands you constantly put your focus and attention on a specific area of the screen. I’m just not a fan of using an “action-y” game for this I guess.
Yes that last part is what I am noticing form several comments heh. In this post I’m not asking which is better so I have to carefully pick out the part of the feedback I need to possibly improve this minigame since the other one apparently is already okay lol.
I don’t have a clear preference on which game, but if you want to keep this kind of minigame, the timings should be reworked a little.
1. Often I would click when I see a heart spawn, and get an error because the system didn’t fully register the heart as being active
2. The timings for the 2nd steps of hearts should be longer. They’re very short right now.
I believe these minigames can add some spice in the games, but they shouldn’t be overly hard (or maybe we can have a variable challenge levels (easy – medium – hard) so the player can choose how hard he wants to work through the minigames…
(The current guessing minigame is on the easy side, but the proposed minigame is on he harder side with the current timings…)
Thanks for the feedback, for the 2nd set of hearts you can also look at the animation. when her vagina is in the middle is when you need to click. you can look at boobs or whatever is of interest. There is not too much longer the hearts can be visible because they will begin to overlap. When I had the bar in the first version this was not a issue because it was not synchronized with the animation.
Firstly I just want to say I love your work and can’t wait for the final release 🙂
Personally I don’t like this style of minigame that requires you to spam click or something, same goes for games that make you shake your mouse like you’re having a seizure. I just find them frustrating and stressful more than anything and they just tend to turn me off the game 🙁
The guessing game was good for be because you could just sit back & relax while playing and the comments during were good.
With this you have to completely focus on the hearts or however the final version turns out. True, you don’t lose progress anymore when you don’t click (which is great), but to progress you still need to spam click, the speed felt way too fast from around the mid-end.
From the other comments it seems there are people that prefer the new version and people who prefer the guessing game like me.
If you do change the game, can you please leave in the guessing game as an option?
By all means leave the new game as the default, but if we could just select the guessing game in the config screen then I think everybody would be happy.
Again, thanks for all your hard work.
Keep in mind that the game tested here is in it’s most minimal form while the guessing games has all the bell and whistles added. I think I will leave the UMCH stuff as it is and use this in other places.
I enjoyed it–the rhythm wasn’t too difficult for me to figure out, and being able to focus on the animation was nice. It might be good if, in the real game, your character’s skill level affected how much the bars move with each click, because it took a good while to get through the game as it is now. But I still liked it, just thought it was a bit tedious. I also wasn’t able to figure out the rule of clicking when a heart was available just through gameplay, but that’s an easy fix in the final game just by adding an explanation somewhere before the game starts.
Thanks for the feedback yeah in certain games it would be stat based gains, penalties or even possible to miss a few and still gain. also items to increase or reduce bars, etc. I will probably need some message to explain what to do but at least a full tutorial is not needed
Can’t you just add in this one with the guessing game, the more variety the better. Tbh while I was playing UMCH I got bored with the cafe stuff because it becomes repetitive.
I’d rather have one or the other to help keeps things simple. I think the cafe game gets boring and repetitive for people because there is no real way to add in any progression. The only progression that can be done is make the game easier or even more luck based. Either way I plan to be done with UMCH soon.
Aight, its your game and I will support you all the way. Even though I can’t support you via finance because I don’t have paypal, I will keep on playing your games.
i have a problem with the game with time event i cant reach the end in the fast part i cant take the rhythm, the game it easy to understand but to much skill for me for a mini game.
Thanks for the feedback.
I just don’t like this at all. Even after the improvements, it’s still way too hard. Why is the X bar have ANY value in it at the beginning?
What’s this about hearts and clicking? There seemed to be no relationship between when I clicked and when the hearts appeared over them fucking. Only the bar on the way up filled things, not on the way down.
I think this idea can be scrapped. It’s a neat idea, but it doesn’t work at all.
This is me. I forgot to login.
Difficulty can be adjusted. Starting values in the bar represent how horny they are at the beginning. either could have starting values based on outside factors.
Keep in mind that when developing something it it wont always begin perfect. It becomes better after taking feedback and applying it. Even still you may not like it, but If I scraped all the stuff some people said they didn’t like when i first made it, I wouldn’t have any games at all.
Personally I like the idea of this minigame but i think it should be a little easier. The hearts move pretty damn fast and it can be hard to see given the bright color scheme of the scene the “X” bar shouldn’t be filled at the start before you even do anything. Other than that I feel like it would be a good minigame to help randomized the scenes at the cafe or in general. 🙂
Thanks, I can work on difficulty somehow. starting values in the bar represent how horny they are at the beginning. either could have starting values based on outside factors.
I preffer the guessing game tbh
Thanks for the feedback
this minigame requires players to focus on the moment when the hearts are spawn – timing mechanism, which is harder to follow the momentum. also, the penalty (wrong clicking) bar refilled much faster than it should have. you can reduce the amount of the penalty bar refill, change the type of the minigame, or keep using guessing game. it’s good, relaxed and i can clear it with no problem at all. maybe you should have an option like when players guess the correct number, the HUD change into those which you can control the animation speed or poses, like in those H-scene. that way, players can enjoy the scene after playing to the fullest :D. thank you
Thanks for the feedback. Perhaps in UMCH I can have a cafe free mode or something after you reach certain exp with the girl(s).
This minigame is easier than the current version, i dont understand why people find it hard to get the timing.. but i prefer this one than guessing number because sometime its depends on luck
I’m not sure i quite understand either. yeah as mentioned I want to remove luck if possible, but apparently it need to not be skill based either. So I was thinking about it a bit more.
